Krnovo is a plateau in the northern part of Montenegro. It is surrounded by branches of the Voinik mountain, which descends stepwise to the Niksic field. It covers the territory of three municipalities: Niksic, Shavnik and Pluzine. It is located 6.5 km south of Shavnik, about 20 km north-east of Niksic and about 50 km north of the capital Podgorica. Together with Lukavitsa, it forms a territory known among climbers and nature lovers as “Montenegrin Tibet“. The average height of this plateau is about 1500 m. It is widely known for the numerous katuns and flocks of sheep that once grazed here. It is even better known for the strong winds that blow over it and winter blizzards. It is located 15 km from the crossroads at Yasenovo Pole, in the direction of the Vuchye ski center, on the main road Niksic-Shavnik.
