ABRSM 2023-24 Grade 1 Piano Exam - A2 Dragonflies - Majroie Helyer A study in legato playing with a soft, smooth touch. I can’t promise that I have that touch, but this is the best I can do, and I hope to inspire other to do better! The English composer Marjorie Helyer wrote many suites for young pianists between the 1950’s and the 1980’s. This piece is taken from ‘The Greenwood Tree’ in which she followed the example of Schumann in composing short pieces that conjure up musical pictures for young people to learn and enjoy.
