Have you ever wondered why dolphins sometimes swim in front of the ships? Some people say they do it to guide the ships, but that’s not true at all. You see, ships have this part called a “bulbous bow“ designed to offset the waves, reducing its drag and fuel consumption. This bow creates an underwater wave, known as wake. And guess what? Teenage dolphins have figured out this trick, they ride this forward push of the wake to reach at high speeds without even flapping their tails “just“ for the thrill.
