Whistling Billy’s Barefoot Hornpipe by Simon Harmer

Dance composed and performed by Instep Research Team member, Simon Harmer as part of the Stepping On conference in November 2019 at Cecil Sharp House, London. Music by The Seaspeak Ensemble led by Joe Danks with Sarah Matthews, Jean Murphy and Danny Pedler. The dance is based around steps described in Henry Mayhew’s London Labour and the London Poor (1840) by a street dancer ’Whistling Billy’ and influenced by Street Dance styles of today.
