Belgian double bass player Lara Rosseel and her quintet offer a playful repertoire that can be described as ’ethnic acoustic jazz’. In 2020, she made what is perhaps the best Belgian jazz album to date with De Grote Vrouw, bringing danceable melodies with delightfully surprising rhythms and flirting with an almost cinematic jazz with traditional African roots.
