Oddest Abe - Machine Gun

Текст с Bandcamp’а: “This song is named after Peter Brotzmann’s ridiculous, noisy, cluttered mess of a free jazz album. Though, it’s more directly influenced by Toshiko Akiyoshi. I was listening to her album “Tales of a Courtesan“. It’s one of my favorite jazz albums of all time. It’s just incredible. I can’t remember which song I had just listened to exactly, but a little after, I got this cheesy big band melody in my head, and I sat down on my drums and recorded a drum track to it. For as much order as this song seems to have, it was all entirely improvised. After recording 1 drum track, the guitar, & the bass, I found that there wasn’t really any room for vocals in the song. But I had this obsession with keeping each song have this vision of a 4 piece band playing it. So I needed another part, or one of the band members in my head wouldn’t be doing anything for this song. And a few weeks later, after listening to Miles Davis’ “Bitches Brew“ I got the idea to have two drum tracks. So I went off to my moms house, where my other drum set is, and I recorded another drum track. And thus this song as it is today was born. from Boring, released January 2, 2016 All sounds were performed, recorded, produced, mixed, & mastered by Oddest Abe. Inspiration: The Toshiko Akiyoshi & Lew Tabackin Big Band, Peter Brotzmann, Miles Davis, Midori, & Kamasi Washington.“
