Merry Christmas, and happy New Year! I have a very special gift for you folks, the likes of which we’ve never done before. A GemsOnVHS supergroup! Three of our favorites, Sierra Ferrell, Josh Okeefe and Kalob Griffin teaming up on a song on Griffin’s new record in this historic Nashville studio. Also introducing my friend Kyle Scholten on that sturdy stand-up bass - Kyle played with Jordan Hull as well back in the day, we go way back. Kalob was my roommate at the time. When he asked me to help him produce his new song, I knew I wanted to make it a collaborative effort. The best part of playing music is those moments you’re connecting with someone; the crowd, or the people you’re playing with, or ideally both at once. So we pulled together a group of the best players I know and stuck them around just two mics in the middle of the room, old school style. You could feel the history of the room, Columbia studio A.
