Henri Mulet’s Carillon-Sortie at St Ouen

Carillon-Sortie by Henri Mulet (1878-1967) recorded in St Ouen, Rouen by Andreas Meisner. Mulet studied at the Paris Conservatoire with Widor and Guilmant. He wrote relatively few works, his most popular being the toccata ’Tu us Petrus’ from the Esquisses Byzantines. The organ needs no introduction, except to say its Cavaillé-Coll’s masterpiece IMHO. The organist, Andreas Mesiner is one of two titulaires at Altenburg Dom. His playing is clear and always thrilling. I will put up a few pieces from his recordings at Altenburg in weeks to come.
