In 1992, a Russian TV show, “Night Channel Sports,“ featured Taekwondo superstar Park Jung-tae and his Global Taekwon-Do Federation (GTF) in this oddly edited video with super hip music. It’s in Russian and was shot soon after the Cold War ended. Sergei (Sergey) Kovaliov, the first president of the Russian GTF is in it, at 11:05 of the video, to Grandmaster Park’s left. The movie is about training a Russian team of youngsters for a European championship in Norway, interspersed with bizarre, sexist cartoons. The show was shot in the town of Tuapse. Park presents an honourary black belt to a Mr. Telechkin at 12:30 of the video. Telechkin was one of the sponsors of the GTF and a friend of Mr. Kovaliov’s. Sponsors were generous, covering expenses for tickets and accommodation of GM Park and for the Russian team’s trip to Norway. Note GM Park’s demonstration of a flip at 5:02. Thanks to Michael Mckenna for pointing that out and to Stig Roar Bye for posting the video.
