Filmed during the second season of excavations in the summer of 2006, Tigranakert: An Armenian Odyssey was the first documentary about what has today become a worldwide sensation and an economic boom to the depressed local economy of the region. Created for the purpose of spreading awareness about what was then an unknown discovery, it has spurred international interest and helped focus popular and scholarly attention to the site.
Screenings of the film have been a fixture of the Tigranakert Museum since it opened in 2010. The museum itself has attracted over 45 thousand people to date, including 8500 diasporan Armenians and 4500 non-Armenians, mostly from Switzerland, USA, Canada and France, making Tigranakert the best-known and most visited archeological monument in Artsakh today.
