FORCED WATER LANDING -- Warbird aircraft crashes on Florida Beach + 3 Angles #SHORTS
On April 17, 2020 a warbird had to make a forced landing in the surf of a Florida beach near Cocoa Beach. The aircraft was a Grumman TBM Avenger, a WWII carrier based dive bomber.
The three different angles so the pilots approach and landing. You can hear the engine making abnormal noises. The pilot also finds a place to land in the water between surfers. An emergency landing is something a pilot trains for over and over again, but many never have to put it into practice.
Many onlookers during the Cocoa Beach Air Show watched as the aircraft can in very low over the water, appearing to have trouble, as it struggled to stay in the air. It’s likely the pilot chose this option versus others to prevent loss of life.
The Grumman TBM Avenger was a carrier-borne torpedo bomber used during WWII. It first saw service in the Battle of Midway. The Pacific Theatre was widely fought at sea, and the TBM Avenger saw a lot of action.
