Bach - Agnus Dei from Mass in B minor BWV 232 | Netherlands Bach Society

The moving alto aria Agnus Dei – recorded here for All of Bach with conductor Jos van Veldhoven and alto David Erler – forms the first part of the finale of Bach’s all-embracing masterpiece, the Mass in B minor (‘Hohe Messe’). The violins play the same plaintive part, unisono, thus underlining the pleading call of the alto: Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
