The group from Denmark, playing Prog Rock, was formed around 1975. Jens Lund and Jörn Bennedbeck played rhythm and blues in the Red Mustangs team in the late 1960s, later changed their musical orientations to the Colosseum until the band disbanded in 1974. About the previous history of other musicians nothing is known. The leader of Akropolis was probably the keyboardist James Templeton. In 1979, Circle Records released a concept album. It describes the history of a person from birth to death. James Templeton formed a new group in 1980 and at this time Akropolis ceased to exist as a musical collective.
