1965 Monte Carlo Rally winner - AJB 44B

Take a passenger ride in the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally winner AJB 44B around the Coventry MotoFest track in 2017. The 1964 Morris Mini-Cooper S was driven to victory by ’the Flying Finn’ Timo Makinen in the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally, with co-driver Paul Easter. The 1965 Monte was one of the most difficult on record, with blizzard conditions between Chambery and Monte Carlo. In spite of this, Makinen’s car completed the route with only one lateness penalty on the road sections, caused by a minor electrical failure in the ignition system. On the run from starting points to Monte Carlo, AJB 44B was the only un-penalised car. AJB 44B is on display at the British Motor Museum along with 2 other Monte Carlo Rally Minis - 1963 Morris Mini-Cooper S 33 EJB and 1966 Morris Mini-Cooper S LBL6D.
