Picnic at Hanging Rock - Ascent Theme Music with Whoosh!

A recreation of the original film-score music of the Ascent theme from Picnic at Hanging Rock by Bruce Smeaton. This is a remixed version, (with added ’whoosh’!) of my YT video with piano score (v=uLbKqqILBD8). I had a request to add the sound-effect that’s in the film at the point where Miranda says “Look!“. So I have. I’ve also remixed the levels of the various instruments to make it sound even more like the original as my score version had the piano a little more forward in the mix since that video was primarily put up on YT for the piano score itself. As with my previous video though, this is NOT an absolutely exact recreation. Rather, it is how I would have liked it to be. By this, I mean it’s how I would have mixed and processed it had I been involved in the production. I admit, the bass pedals may be a little too loud for some, but I love that fat bottom end! :) So that’s what we have here. I hope my musical choices haven’t ruined your enjoyment of the piece. I hasten to add that I do NOT mean to detract from the actual original film mix!! It is what it is and I still love it :) I’ve simply done this video because it seems impossible now to get hold of just the original music without all the dialogue and other sounds. There IS a version on the net that seems to use phase-inversion and other techniques to try to remove the centre channel (which contains the dialogue etc.) from the original soundtrack, but in doing so, has unfortunately also severely reduced the piano level too...! To be honest, I think that that version is a travesty of the original so I hope I’m actually giving listeners a more accurate taste of the original :) Because this video focuses on the music instead of the score, I’ve added the video sequence from the original film that corresponds to the music to give it some context. The whole thing is actually very Genesis-like (circa 1973) - Firth of Fifth style piano plus Mellotron choirs & strings, Moog Taurus bass pedals and a touch of Gabrielesque flute... Not to mention that Hawkwind’s Hall of the Mountain Grill bears more than a passing resemblance...! :) Whilst on the subject of the greatest band ever (IMHO), if you like this then my channel has a few Genesis vids you may be interested in... :) The audio was made using Presonus Studio One 3 with the following plugins: Piano - XLN Audio Addictive Keys Mellotron Choir & Strings - GForce M-Tron Pro Bass Pedals - Arturia Modular V3 Flute - Spitfire Audio Flute Consort ’Whoosh’ - u-he Diva
