En 2003, le Pentagone organise une projection du film La Bataille d’Alger pour tenter de comprendre quelle stratégie adopter dans la lutte contre le terrorisme insurrectionnel pendant la guerre d’Irak. Réalisé initialement en 1965 par Gillo Pontecorvo avec une volonté anticolonialiste affirmée, le film a fait l’objet de réappropriations hétérogènes et a été réutilisé à contre-emploi.
