Stefan Jackiw’s bow SNAPS like a twig during Violin Concerto at Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra
During the UK premiere of Ukrainian-born composer Reinhold Gliere’s Violin Concerto with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, foremost violinist Stefan Jackiw faced an unexpected mishap when his bow suddenly snapped in two a third of the way through the concerto.
Despite using the bow for over 20 years, the surprised but composed Jackiw turned to the concertmaster to trade. Unfazed, “the elegantly razor-thin soloist… kept ready by the orchestral leader and carried on without missing more than a beat.” [The Telegraph]
