At least two people have been killed and at least eight injured after an explosion outside Pakistan’s busiest airport, according to officials, in a suspected separatist attack.
The cause of the blast at Karachi airport, which happened around 11pm local time, was not independently verified.
However, Zia-ul-Hasan Lanjar, the interior minister for Sindh province, told GEO News that it was suspected to be an improvised explosive device strike that had targeted foreigners.
A home ministry official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told the Associated Press that it was an attack on Chinese nationals.
In a statement emailed to journalists, the separatist militant group Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed it carried out the attack using a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device targeting Chinese nationals, including engineers.
