One movement, marked: Lento The Piece for Trombone and Piano [concert piece] in E flat minor by Guy Ropartz, has become one of the bravoura pieces for all trombone players; its frenzied finale calls for the delicate technique of ’triple tonguing’. As often the case with composers from Brittany (north-west France), the slow movement is of great beauty.
