#IFD Building Fire

2:37 PM - 1 #IFD firefighter sustains slight injury after crews respond to 1401 Perkins Ave and find a 75 x 75 Aluminum Pole Barn fully involved. The property sits at the end of a drive that is well over 1,000 feet long and made establishing a quick layout for water supply - labor intensive to say the least. Close to 1400 feet of supply line was laid and relayed to establish the water supply and command ordered defensive operations only. The fire was marked under control in 1 hour. IFD/IMPD Fire Investigations was on scene to investigate. The owner of the building, which operates as Day and Day Transport, told firefighters that the last semi truck pulled into the facility around 1:30 pm. The owner believes a mechanical issue with the semi may have started the fire. They have insurance.
