Bushfire evacuation alerts issued for parts of Victoria
Victoria had its first glimpse of bushfire season when evacuation alerts were issued for parts of Gippsland in the state’s east on Sunday afternoon.
Dozens of residents and holidaymakers were forced to flee from Briagolong when an out-of-control bushfire burned through the area.
Firefighters have been working hard through the night to maintain the fire.
There are currently three ‘Watch and Act’ alerts in Victoria.
There is a total fire ban in place in the state’s north in the Mallee region.
