Latvia: Parliament adopts ’hybrid threats’ law, postpones ’state secrets’ decision

The Latvian parliament adopted in the second and final reading, amendments to the criminal law aimed at preventing ’hybrid threats’ and ’informational crimes,’ in Riga on Thursday. According to the newly adopted legislation, any crimes against Latvia’s ’independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity’ could be punished with a probation period of up to three years or, if committed for the purpose of helping a foreign state or foreign organisation, up to five years in jail.
