Mistral MANPADS (Man – Portable – Air – Defence – System) is a very short range air defence weapon system that fires Mistral, the latest generation fire-and-forget missile.
Mistral MANPADS has been designed to meet the requirements of all branches of the armed forces and features a lightweight man-portable launcher that can be easily transported or operated from the ground, a vehicle, a building or a ship.
Mistral MANPADS is normally operated by a gunner and a crew commander. However, if the mission is carried out in a simple, tactical environment it can be operated by one soldier. The system has also the option to be operated autonomously - thanks to its latest generation thermal sight and its IFF - or otherwise integrated within a fire control and co-ordination system.
The system boasts a 97% proven success rate and higher reliability than any other existing low-level air defence missile. Mistral integrates ultimate state-of-the-art technology to ensure the same effectiveness in peacetime as well as in wartime conditions. Its diameter permits the integration of a homing head that’s 40% larger than competitor products and a 3kg warhead (as compared to provided by competing weapons)
