Mark Renshaw and his 2011 HTC Highroad team-issue Specialized Venge (Story of my bike, pro series)

In part 3 of the Mark Renshaw ‘Story of my Bike’ series, we take a look at the Specialized Venge created in partnership with McLaren during the 2011 season. Unveiled to the HTC-Highroad team on the eve of Milan-Sanremo that year, this bike would indeed be ridden to victory in ‘La Primavera’ by an Australian. Matt Goss took the victory and his team-mate, Mark Renshaw, would later use the same bike exclusively for the rest of the season. Renshaw didn’t take up Specialized’s offer of racing the new bike a day after he first saw it, but once he started riding it, he didn’t stop until he swapped teams. The Venge is no more. Specialized ceased producing the aero-specific bike in 2020, but the legacy lives on. This video showcases the bike and allows Mark Renshaw to talk us through some of the highlights of the Venge of 2011, and also explain some of the inner-machinations of the hugely successful HTC-Highroad team. ___ This is part 3 of the #StoryOfMyBike #ProSeries.
