DRAMA! Campanelle wins Commonwealth Cup after Stewards’ Enquiry

Campanelle (Wesley Ward/Frankie Dettori) has been promoted to first place in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot, with original winner Dragon Symbol (Archie Watson/Oisin Murphy) placed second. Speaking as he waited for the stewards’ verdict, Ward said: “In America, she comes down – but we’re not in America. “It’s like the Wizard Of Oz – ‘we’re not in Kansas any more’. “Frankie said he was carried way out on the other side of the track – what that means I don’t know. “I’d like to see them go straight, and see what happens.” He added: “She’s run a really big race on her first run back in heavy. “She dug deep and it was a great effort. Frankie’s gone in there with his lawyer hat on right now.” On hearing the news, Ward said: “We’re elated. I’m glad the stewards took the time they did.” Congratulated by Watson while he was being interviewed, Ward added: “That’s a true gentleman, right there. “That’s her first start of the year in heavy ground, that’s really amazing.” ------------------- Enjoy the best
