Sasha is an adult Margay. She was rescued as a baby and brought to a refugee for animals La Senda Verde () . Until now, she was living alone. But this was going to change; Sasha would have company: two rescued juvenile margays should live with her. The first step was to put them in a neighbor’s enclosure. When they got to know each other, we opened the gate so that the two margays could enter Sasha’s enclosure and get to know her “personally.“ We carefully watched as the margays got to know the new surroundings. Sasha did not take her eyes off them. Fortunately, the whole process was successful, and the margays became friends. Now the three of them sleep in one house and play with each other.
Margay (leopardus wiedii) is often confused with the ocelot. They can be distinguished by size - margays are smaller than ocelots and have longer tails.
