After Turkey, now in the Pacific! Strong earthquakes in New Zealand and the Philippines!

On February 15, two strong earthquakes occurred in the Pacific Ocean. First, a magnitude 6.3 earthquake rocked New Zealand. The epicenter was in the ocean, at a depth of 48 km, about 80 km from Wellington. Within 15 minutes, more than 30,000 people reported to GeoNet that they felt the shaking. There were no reports of casualties or damage. 12 hours later, a magnitude 6.1 earthquake shook the Philippines around 2 am. The epicenter was in the sea at a depth of 20 km, near the province of Masbate. More than 80 aftershocks were later recorded. As a result of the earthquake, 61 buildings were partially damaged. Fortunately there were no casualties. In both cases, there was no tsunami threat.
