Lecküchner Langes Messer: the full treatise

Project MesserGIF is done, and this is the result. Started in 2016, the goal was to go through Hans Lecküchner’s Notes on the art of the Knife in its entirety and document it on video. Originally, I was simply trying to document my journey through the manuscript and keep track of my interpretations. As it went on, however, people have let me know that the project was helpful for their own studies as well, so that’s why I decided to put everything together in one video. Keep in mind that I learned a lot since starting the project, so not all plays in this video are in line with my current interpretations. Even so, I hope it will be somewhat fun to watch and learn from. I must sincerely thank everyone who helped me make the project happen by serving as my fencing partners. Finally, I would like to especially thank my fiancee Kamila, who has not only helped me film a ridiculous amount of plays, but whose encouragement and advice have made the completion of the project possible in the first place. 00:00 Intro 00:15 Zornhaw 02:34 Wecker 04:48 Entrüsthaw 05:42 Zwinger 05:54 Geferhaw 06:08 Wincker 06:57 Vier Leger 07:18 Vier Versetzen 08:23 Nachraysen 09:59 Überlauffen 14:26 Absetzen 14:51 Durchwechsel 15:51 Zucken 16:49 Durchlauffen 24:33 Schnytt 28:15 Ablauffen 28:36 Pnemen 30:32 Durchgen 31:11 Pogen 31:50 Messer Nemen 47:00 Hengen 51:00 Winden Music: Folk Round by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license.
