Making Silicone Severed Zombie Fingers Using Alja-Safe and Ecoflex

In this tutorial video, Milo shows how to make fake severed zombie fingers using Ecoflex™ 00-35 silicone, poured into an Alja-Safe™ alginate mold. Milo makes an Alja-Safe™ alginate mold of his hand and then pours Ecoflex™ 00-35 into the mold after tinting it with Silc-Pig™ silicone pigments. He inserts inexpensive plastic bones into the fingers before the silicone cures. After the filgers cure, they are removed from the mold. He then applies more silicone, tinted blood-red, to the fingers for a blood effect. The prop fingers are allowed to cure fully before using in a Halloween display. #halloween #prop #fx Alja-Safe™ is easy to use and cures quickly. It reproduces fine detail and makes an excellent temporary mold – good for one or two reproductions of any body part. You can then cast plaster, platinum cure silicone or Smooth-Cast™ 300Q ultra-fast urethane resin into the mold to make a reproduction. Alja-Safe™ alginate - Ecoflex™ 00-35 FAST is a soft, fast cure platinum-catalyzed silicone that is versatile and easy to use. Parts A and B are mixed 1:1 by weight or volume, pot life is about 2.5 minutes and rubber cures in about 5 minutes at room temperature with negligible shrinkage. Low viscosity ensures easy mixing and pouring. Rubber cures without “tacky“ surface, is very soft, very strong and very “stretchy, stretching many times its original size. EcoFlex™ 00-35 is off-white translucent and can be color pigmented using Silc Pig™ silicone color pigments.
