Alexandre Giroux | 2008-2009 AHL MVP

UPDATE 8/5/09 - Alex has resigned with the Bears for the upcoming 2009-2010 season. A tribute to Hershey Bears winger Alexandre Giroux’s record breaking 2008-2009 season. Alex won the John B. Sollenberger Trophy (leading scorer), the Willie Marshall Award (leading goal scorer), and the Les Cunningham Award (MVP). Giroux finished with 60 goals and 97 points in 69 games, and then followed that up with 15 more goals in 22 postseason games. His 75 goals scored are the most ever by a single AHL player in one regular season and postseason combined. He set an AHL record for most goals in the season for a left wing. He beat the record for consecutive games with a goal with 15, beating Brett Hull’s previous record of 14. He also established a new Hershey franchise record for most goals in the season with 60.
