Allegro (7:30) Composed: 1710s Turin source: Giordano 30 Concordance: mvt 1 theme = Ottone in villa (overture) Concordance: 8min 19sec = Copied by Pisendel in separate parts and found in Dresden, hence the supposition that it could have been composed before or around the time of Pisendel’s sojourns in Venice, in 1716-1717. The initial allegro derives its theme from the sinfonia to Vivaldi’s first opera, Ottone in villa (1713). Stylistically, however, it seems like it could have been composed in the next decade. In the Turin score given here we find the beginning of a slow movement, abandoned after a few bars, reprising the imitations between parts extensively used in the first movement.
