Family Event is a double act comprising two highly talented 15 year old Los Angeles natives - James Matthew and Aaron Maxwell. James and Aaron’s music careers began with a stream of hard-hitting 808 beats in a similar vein to those of Young Chop or Lex Luger, but after being introduced to the work of Hip-Hop producers such as Pete Rock and the late J Dilla, as well as more contemporary beat connoisseurs such as Flying Lotus and Jonwayne, they chose to take a more boom-bap route with their music.
