After almost 3 years first real festival in Narita city of Chiba prefecture! It was really crowded. Social distance? 🤷♂️Still the festival was reduced, there were no dancers and drummers.
Gion festival is sort of pray against diseases. But really, I don’t have much idea what is going on here. People are pulling forward and back dashi chariots through Omotesando street. I asked few Japanese about the meaning and they had no idea too.
I walked from Keisei Narita station to Naritasan temple. I passed through old Omotesando street with different old stores, noticed few dashi preparing for day closing event. Festival website said the event starts from 4:30pm, few people said it’s 5pm, but it started at 5:18pm. Dashi were going uphill collecting money from people passing with sticks from the second floor. Then near the top of the hill dashi team was speeding up.
