Ottawan 2 [English & French Version + Bonus] (1981)

After a spectacular debut with . Ottawan’s popularity rapidly overtook that of the Gibson Brothers whose On The Riviera LP had not yielded any hits that rivaled Cuba and Que Sera Mi Vida, and producer Daniel Vangarde decided to focus on a follow-up album for Ottawan. Haut les mains came out in the French-speaking countries in January 1981 but was only a small hit at #28 in France and #32 in Belgium. The English version Hands Up was released at the end of March and became a much bigger hit hitting the top of the charts all over Europe, amazingly without any promotion by the duo, as by now Daniel Vangarde was fed-up with Patrick’s behaviour off-stage and sacked the duo. As a consequence, when their second LP hit the market in July, it had no photo of the two on the cover. A French-language version of the album was also released with Siest’ avec toi as the lead-single b/w Qui va garder mon crocodile cet été which was not included on the international album.
