Some of these shorts were used as interstitials in early television, when live shows might not be long enough to cover an hour. The show relied on amusing stock footage clips and Hawthorne’s patented droll, gag-laced, dry narration. This one shows footage of a group of people looking for a needle in a haystack as part of a contest, footage of firefighters using some kind of foam generating system in the 1920s, (1:29) Victorian era silent comedy film footage of an actor getting his hand stuck on a sheet of fly paper. At (2:11), a man’s bald head is inspected as part of some kind of pattern baldness or bald man club. At (2:50), blindfolded boxers are shown in the ring. At (3:34) some three card monte is shown with cups. We encourage viewers to add comments and, especially, to provide additional information about our videos by adding a comment!
