Maurice Duruflé (1902 - 1986):
REQUIEM (IN PARADISUM)
This is the 9th and last movement of Duruflés Requiem.
Duruflé was a French composer, organist and pedagogue. In 1947, he wrote what is probably the most famous of his relatively few compositions: the Requiem op. 9, for soloists, choir, organ, and orchestra. The following year, a version for organ appeared, and in 1961, a version for small orchestra.
In paradisum deducant [te] Angeli, in tuo adventu suscipiant te martyres, et perducant te in civitatem sanctam Ierusalem. Chorus angelorum te suscipiat, et cum Lazaro quondam paupere aeternam habeas requiem.
May angels lead you into paradise, upon your arrival may the martyrs receive you and lead you to the holy city of Jerusalem. May the choir of angels receive you, and with Lazarus, once a poor man, may you have eternal rest.
