Apicectomies are usually done by oral and maxillofacial surgeons when conventional root canal treatment is not possible. To remove the Apicoectomy cyst, the surgeon gains access by making an incision in your gum. The root tip of the tooth is removed along with the infection or cyst, in this video you can see it being scooped out with an instrument. A white filling is used to fill the end of the tooth to seal it, and the empty space is filled with bone graft.
