SSS Single Bed FOX

Australia’s National Broadcaster and its flagship music program “Countdown“ broke countless acts into the industry from both international and local sources. Fox’s “SSS Single Bed“ had been a sizable hit in Britain, and the music program started playing the clip in mid 1976, and before long it became a chart topper, spending 6 months in the Australian Top 40. Australian by birth, Noosha Fox (Susan Traynor), and Kenny Young an American singer/songwriter and producer based in England were the nucleus of Fox. “SSS Single Bed“ is one of the most memorable of mid seventies pop hits with its trippy production style and ethereal vocals by Noosha. They were to follow up this smash hit with a couple of others, however Fox were relegated largely to One Hit Wonder status, with the band members going their own way. Kenny Young formed Yellow Dog who were to have one hit in Australia - “Just one more night“, and Noosha scored a couple of minor hits in England and Europe - but sadly none in her country of origin. “SSS Single Bed“ stands up well over time, thanks to its distinctive sound, and is a great reminder of those sexy, risque pop songs that emerged during that decade, forever pushing the innocence and simplicity of the classic pop song of the late 60’s and early 70’s into history, and paving the way for edgier, more blatant lyrics of the 80’s and beyond.
