(Rouault) SAU Homecoming 2020: Ganton Art Gallery Tour
The Ganton Art Gallery presents “Seeing Christ in the Darkness“ featuring nearly 40 original lithographs, engravings, and woodcuts by the prominent French artist Georges Rouault (1871-1958).
A friend and colleague of Henri Matisse, Rouault was a first-generation Fauvist and Expressionist, and his work was instrumental in establishing the vocabulary of abstraction that defined subsequent 20th Century art. His work can be found in many significant collections, including the holdings of the Metropolitan Art Museum, the National Gallery, and the Musée d’Orsay.
The works on view today include plates from his Miserere series and his Passion series! #SAUHomecoming2020
