It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of our dear friend and colleague, drummer Duffy Jackson (1953-2021), following a prolonged illness. Duffy played and taught many times at the Nashville Jazz Workshop. He appeared frequently in the Jazz Cave as a leader, sideman, and with his big band. The son of bassist Chubby Jackson, Duffy had a distinguished career before moving to Tennessee. He played with Lionel Hampton, Count Basie, Milt Jackson, Monty Alexander, and many, many others.
