The social media suppression of alternative voices seems to come in waves, and the latest swell has engulfed Glenn Greenwald and Jimmy Dore, both of whom have received bans from TikTok. Justification was not offered in either case, but this turn of events certainly seems to indicate that fears of Chinese manipulation of social media has been overblown and in fact it’s the U.S. government looking to silence dissident voices online.
