New Bugesera International Airport Model 🇷🇼| Igishyushanyo kivuguruye cy’umushinga wikibuga cyindege

This year’s Aviation Africa provided a platform to display the design of the new airport in Bugesera, Rwanda. DAR has showcased the animation and model of the new airport during the event that took place on 12 and 13 September 2022 in Kigali, Rwanda. The event has been attended by the President of the Republic of Rwanda his Excellency Mr. Paul Kagame and the Group CEO of Qatar Airways H.E. Mr. Akbar al Baker among other VIP and industry delegates. The new airport designed by DAR is located 25 kilometers south of Kigali International Airport. The airport will serve as a regional hub for East Africa, and will be built in two phases. Covering an area of 2,500 hectares the airport will have a capacity initially to handle 8.2 million passengers and 150,000 tons of cargo annually when phase one is complete. In its second phase the greenfield airport will have the capacity to handle 14 million passengers and 300,000 tons of cargo.
