1980 – EURODISCO / Gilla – Tom Cat (2023 Video Cut)

#gilla #rasputin “Tom Cat”, Eurodisco single by German – Austrian singer #Gilla (Gisela Wuchinger), was produced by Frank Farian, godfather of #boneym and #eruption , and released by German Ariola record label in 1980. Despite the single failed in the European charts, Tom Cat became one of Gilla’s signature hit in the Soviet Union and later in all post-Soviet countries, along with her “Johnny” Gilla was singing in her father’s band Niki Wuchinger. Then she studied music in Salzburg and became a vocalist in the band known as Seventy-Five Music. Then she signed a contract with Frank Farian, bringing several songs into the German and Austrian pop-charts in mid-1970s. With her smoky voice, she released successful singles like “Willst du mit mir schlafen gehn” (German version of „Voulez-vous coucher avec moi” (Lady Marmalade) and “Tu es”. In 1978 she released a German version of famous Boney M’s “Rasputin” Boney M was also produced by Farian at the time. After Gilla gave a birth to her daughter, she decided to finish her music career. Her husband Helmut Rulofs has released quite a few songs under the pseudonym Chris Denning and worked for Frank Farian. Under the pseudonym G.
