This video clip is from the HBO series Treme. The sole purpose of posting this clip is for its cultural significance and its relationship to the Afro-Puerto Rican tradition of Bomba. The rhythm played at the end is what is known to be Yuba in the Bomba tradition. Like the Afro traditions of New Orleans, Bomba has strong links to Haiti and Kreyol Afro French traditions. It is important to note that the Juba rhythm is documented as having been played in New Orlean’s Congo square back in the 19th century.
