Shawn Tubbs (Carrie Underwood Band) demos the new Synergy Amps Syn1 tube preamp and modules
Imagine having a wall of boutique level amps at your disposal. An actual tone mountain of amps that gives you the diversity of sounds you’ve always dreamed of. There’s always two things that get in the way of this… firstly, money. A lot of those desirable amps cost in excess of $2k EACH. Then there is the space… I mean, who has the space to keep several 100w heads in their music room?
This is where the Synergy Syn1 module system shines. Not only can you have several of your favorite heads available to you instantly, but you can now have them at a fraction of the price and a fraction of the room. But, how does that work? Well, first of all there is the syn1 dock. This is a tube-driven heart of the system. The dock comes complete with regular ‘pre-amp’ out, an incredible tube driven XLR emulated out that can give the best recorded tones direct into the desk, FX loop, sag control – all this is then driven by the various specific modules... This is where the magic really starts. This is where you can make your tone as wildly variable as you want.
Straight out of the blocks in this video Shawn shows you how easy it is to load in your favorite module in, it really is that simple, and then goes straight in to two incredible tones being played together. On the left side you have the Friedman BE Module, thick and fat modd’d Plexi tones and on the right, you have the Synergy B Man, with a more subtle yet powerful pronounced mid range. Within this short section not only are you hearing two completely different amp tones, but how well they work together. It’s worth putting your headphones on and listening to this first section a few times, taking one ear out at a time and listening to the differing tones and then playing both together.
If modern high gain tones aren’t really your thing, Shawn then leads you into a classic edgy Strat tone with the Synergy Tweed Bassman style – you’ll notice that not only does it sound completely different in EVERY aspect from the first two tones, but it’s just the most authentic Tweed tone you can imagine – gritty, kinda scooped, and most importantly, articulate with and edge, clear yet dirty – a pure true tube driven amp tone. And then just to make sure we are all paying attention, Shawn takes us back to the Friedman for some powerful, thick and gainy lead tones. As a final thoughts, Shawn brings in the MetroPlex module, designed with George Metropoulos plexi - George’s work on 100w SuperLeads is legendary, andyou can own the decades of experience of working on these amps in this one module.
And yes, that was all from the Syn1 module. Flawlessly creating the most desirable amp tones instantly just by swapping out the modules – and all of that was through the power section of a Suhr Bella Amp – in this instance being driven as a ‘slave’ or as ‘additional’ channels you get the feeling on how this incredible system works and most importantly, sounds.
SynergyAmps Syn1, making your desire to have an amp collection a reality at a fraction of the cost, in the smallest place imaginable.
