Mobilization for the CT Junction

If you have shoulder or neck issues, you have got to give the CT junction some love! It’s such an abused area of the spine due to neck instability and upper back tension, and it’s almost always locked up. Dysfunction in this area will most definitely exacerbate any shoulder or neck problems you are dealing with. . Here is one way to get that area moving again: 🔑 Get a pair of soft tissue balls (I’m using @acumobility balls here) and place them on either side of the spine just below the base of the neck. . 🔑Lay with the balls at the edge of the table so your neck will eventually be hanging off. . 🔑 Start by retracting your chin and trying to smash the balls into the table. DON’T start extending the neck just yet. . 🔑 After you’ve gotten as much retraction as possible, only then should you begin to extend the neck. . 🔑 Try extending segment by segment starting at the joints just above the balls. .
