A tropical cyclone attacks New Zealand. Strong winds and heavy rain led to massive flooding. Trees are downed, cars are floating in molasses, bridges are destroyed, all this is happening today in New Zealand. The cyclone was the second major weather event to hit New Zealand, and heavy rains, winds and storm surges are likely to make this storm the most destructive tropical system yet. This is a category 3 tropical cyclone over the open waters of the Coral Sea.
