This video features Sam Pilafian playing the Harvard Tuba - one of the largest playable tubas in the world - at the Harvard Band reunion concert on October 19, 1979. He is joined by Wendy Livingston, piccolo, and the Harvard Band, performing Henri Kling’s “The Elephant and the Fly.“
Permission to post this recording has been granted by both the current band director of the Harvard Band, and the director from the time of the recording. The purpose of posting it is to give people the opportunity to hear this historic tuba, performed by one of the greatest tubists in the world. The two photos are courtesy of Michael Ruderman, Clerk of the Harvard Band Foundation.
