On “My Car Story“ we’re at the Carlisle Events in Carlisle PA on 7-11-20.
We’re looking at a 1960 Chevrolet Corvette # 3 “Cunningham Corvette”.
Zora Arkus-Duntov was in charge of the Team building The Chevrolet Corvette. He convinced Briggs Cunningham to bring three competition built Corvettes to race in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. With John Fitch & Bob Grossman as co-driver, this Corvette was the 1st Corvette to ever cross the finish line at Le Mans, placed 1st in Grand Touring 5000 class, 8th overall, and this record as a Corvette stood for over 40 years. The car comes with the factory built V8 engine with Fuel Injection producing 290 HP.
The car’s Owner is Lance Miller. Lance’s Dad found this car in 2001. The car was repainted and found, verified by serial # as being the “Cunningham Corvette # 3, and then after an 18 month restoration, it’s back to its original race car glory.
