From Shanghai to Beijing and beyond! China’s homegrown C919 jetliner starts commercial operation

C919, China’s self-developed large passenger aircraft, started its first commercial flight on Sunday morning, flying from Shanghai to Beijing marking its official entry into the civil aviation market. The jet liner, as flight MU9191 operated by China Eastern Airlines and carrying some 130 passengers, received a water salute at the Beijing Capital Airport after a two-hour flight from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. Commercial Aviation Corp of China (COMAC) began developing the C919 15 years ago to rival the Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX single-aisle jet families. The plane conducted a successful maiden flight in 2017. In the following years, the C919 conducted several test flights in different locations to test its capabilities. The first C919 aircraft was delivered to its first customer, China Eastern Airlines on December 9, 2022, indicating that China has the capability to independently develop large passenger aircrafts。 __________________ ShanghaiEye focuses on producing top-quality contents.
